Welcome in our 2nd episode of the Growth FMCG CEO Podcast where some of the most successful & aspirational leaders in the FMCG industry are interviewed & where we deep-dive not only on the strategy & performance of their company but equally important on their personal leadership journey

Pablo Perversi, President Europe of Danone, is our 2nd guest in the Growth FMCG CEO Podcast:

  • Danone is a >$30bn revenue Food (Dairy, Plant-Based, Infant Milk & Baby Food, Medical Nutrition) & Beverage (mineral water) company

  • Europe is not only one of its key region (>$10bn revenue), its historic market where the company started in 1919 in Barcelona but it’s also where it has been the most challenged over the last decade losing almost steadily market shares

  • In April 2022, Antoine De St Affrique was appointed as a new Group CEO to lead Danone turnaround. In January 2023, Pablo Perversi started as President Europe, probably ‘the toughest job in the entire FMCG industry’ as some commented at the time

  • Since 2023, Danone has been consistently exceeding its guidance & outperforming peers across most metrics (growth in net revenue/ profit/ cash-flow & market cap). Danone Europe, especially, has been playing a key role in this performance

  • In this context, Danone is increasingly & rightfully considered as one of the most promising turnaround case in the FMCG industry over the last 18 months

  • This interview was the occasion to have with Pablo a candid conversation not only on the drivers of Danone turnaround but also on his rich career & unique perspective on leadership and the FMCG industry overall

The episode covers specifically:

  • Pablo 30 years leadership journey from Unilever through Barry Callebaut to Danone

  • His success & set-backs

  • His leadership & career advice

  • The key drivers behind Danone successful turnaround

  • How to transform category growth & drive expandability

  • His perspective on plant-based & sustainability

  • And and so much more

Hope you will enjoy the interview,

Exciting times
